A swimmer who reached the finals at the Paralympics is set to challenge herself alongside able-bodied athletes.

Lauren Steadman, 19, is getting ready to fly out to New Zealand to participate in the triathlon.

Last week she visited her sponsors Cycles UK, in Great Square, Braintree, to collect her competition bike ahead of flying out to New Zealand.

Lauren, who was born without her right arm below the elbow, finished sixth in the 400m freestyle final and eighth in the 100m freestyle at London 2012, competing in the S9 class.

The University of Portsmouth student, originally from Peterborough, will be staying with her uncle, who was also an elite triathlete, while she is staying in New Zealand.
