A new supermarket could be built within a year once final plans are given the go-ahead.

Asda and Freeport have held a public exhibition introducing their proposals for a superstore situated next to the shopping village.

The supermarket chain believes it has strong public backing for the development, with 95% of visitors to the three-day exhibition supporting for the scheme.

The developers are promising 300 new jobs as part of the development, which would also include a petrol station.
