Braintree: Baker's promise to comedy star, Ricky Gervais Braintree: Baker's promise to comedy star, Ricky Gervais

A baker has fulfilled his promise to comedian Ricky Gervais by delivering a specially designed cake to a retirement home.

Robin Brown, who runs Rockin’ Rob’s Cakes in Witham, tweeted the star to ask if he could make and sell Flanimals cakes.

To his surprise Gervais replied giving permission, on the condition he made a prototype and was pictured by the Times delivering it to a local care home.

On Thursday our photographer took this picture of the cake being presented to St George’s Nursing Home, The Avenue in Witham.

Mr Brown now plans to forward a copy of the picture to Mr Gervais.
