A woman in her 60's has died following a road crash in Chelmsford yesterday.

Her silver Mazda car went out of control in Parkway at 7:40pm. 

It collided with a crash barrier and part of the railway viaduct before overturning beneath the viaduct.

The driver, who is from Chelmsford, was taken to Broomfield Hospital where she died about two hours later.

The road was closed until about 12.30am while police carried out an initial investigation into the cause of the crash.

Officers believe that no other vehicles were involved but any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police should contact the Essex Police Serious Collision Unit on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
