Braintree's MP says he would be “surprised” if his use of Twitter was the reason he lost his job as a Government whip.

Brooks Newmark had served as a Conservative party whip since 2007, and had been a Government whip since 2010.

But he was removed from the role in this month’s reshuffle, with speculation suggesting Chief Whip Patrick McLoughlin was unhappy with Mr Newmark’s use of social networks.

Mr Newmark said: “The Chief Whip did not like me tweeting at all, which is why I stopped for a year.

“I did what he asked, so I’d be surprised if he had held a grudge about it for a whole year. I didn’t tweet anything that was extraordinary.”

Cameron has found out just how incompetent Brooks No-marks is.
His constituents could have told him that years ago.
