A community hall is celebrating a year under new management with a packed programme of upcoming entertainment.

Braintree Council handed control of Witham Public Hall, in Collingwood Road, to a group of trustees last September.

And having built up a busy schedule of events and a loyal following among locals and not-so-locals alike, the trustees are optimistic for the challenges of the year ahead.

Graham Green, Witham Public Hall Trust events manager, said: "Since we took over the hall we have had touring theatre, classical and popular music, stand-up comedy and blues as well as the long-standing amateur shows.”

The programme features a stage adaptation of Hound of the Baskervilles on September 27, the return of the Comedy Club after their summer break on September 29 and the award-winning Thundersley Brass Band on October 6.
