A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the bottom.

Police were called to a house in Laurence Avenue, Witham at around 6.50am this morning following reports of an assault.

They discovered a 20-year-old man from Maldon injured in the street.

He had suffered a puncture wound to his bum.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford by ambulance crews however his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officers believe the victim knew his attackers and that they fled the scene after the incident.

They are seeking three men who had been with the victim, at a house in Laurence Avenue before the attack.

A section of Laurence Avenue was cordoned off until around 11.30am on Saturday while police investigated the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call Braintree Police Station on 101.
