Witham: Residents hopeful of end to commuter parking woe Witham: Residents hopeful of end to commuter parking woe

Problems with cars blocking roads in a housing estate could finally be resolved after residents were promised a consultation.

The Moat Farm Estate is commonly used by rail commuters who park there before getting on a train at nearby Witham station.

Residents have complained that cars have blocked driveways and blocked access for emergency services and refuse vehicles.

A long-running campaign from residents has demanded the implementation of parking restrictions to solve the problem.

Now Essex County Council has promised residents a six-week consultation period to give their views ahead of the proposed scheme.

Chelmer Road resident Susan Ager, spokesman for the Moat Farm Residents’ Action Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted and it is a step in the right direction."

Reason wy people park in residential areas is because the parking is free and I think there should be free parking I don't use the railway but this problem is the same on the forest road estate not just Moat Farm area

Parking is a problem because people drive from Braintree. Build the loop..solve the problem. £9m is not a lot of money. I'm sure Essex and Braintree can find it!
