Morrisons fears a new Sainsbury’s superstore could lead to the closure of its own supermarket.
Development consultants Peacock and Smith, acting on behalf of Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, have objected to Sainsbury’s planning application to transform the Broomhills Industrial Estate in Rayne Road, Braintree.
They said it would take customers away from Morrisons, which opened just a kilometre away in Rayne Road last September.
