Police are appealing for information after a teenager was injured in a road crash in Braintree.

The 15-year-old boy was struck by a black Saab outside John Bunyan Junior School on Lancaster Way at 4.30pm yesterday.

The driver of the Saab failed to stop at the scene, an Essex Police spokesman said.

The teenager sustained a leg injury and severe bruising and was taken to Broomfield Hospital by paramedics.

Investigating officer, Pc Simon Pomares, said: "This driver has been described as white, approximately 40-year-old and had short ginger hair.”

Police searched for the black Saab in the area but were not successful.

Anyone with information in connection with this crash is urged to contact investigating officers at Stanway Road Policing Unit on 101.
