A toddler who broke her arm was not diagnosed for two weeks because a hospital failed to spot the fracture, her mum claims.

Mum Chloe Edgell-Dixon, 21, rushed Summer Watson to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, after she fell off a sofa at home, causing a lump on her forearm.

She said they were told nothing was wrong, but two weeks later, she took Summer to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow where they said she had broken her arm.

A spokesman for Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, which runs Broomfield, said it prided itself on offering highest standards of care and will investigate the case.

The same happened to my daughter when she was 18months old. We rushed her to broomfield a&e as she had fallen awkwardly & they refused to xray her. We took her to the GP 2 days later who referred her for an xray, which took a further week. It turned out she had broken her collar bone.
