A medieval fair held to celebrate the restoration of a packhorse bridge was a great success, according to its organisers.

The bridge, between Kelvedon and Feering, was opened this weekend as part of the Heritage Open Days Scheme.

The event also marked the 700th anniversary of a charter that granted Kelvedon to hold a fair.

Ten re-enactors brought the period to life with medieval cooking, medicine, archery, weaving, embroidery, games, music and puppetry.
