Braintree: Stalls fill Market street for Portas Pilot

CO69782

Market Street in Braintree lived up to its name as stalls filled the arches to celebrate the launch of the Portas Pilot.

Braintree Council invited the stallholders, many of whom had never traded in the town centre before, to take part in Friday’s event to mark the town’s success in being chosen for the scheme.

The archway stalls featured in Braintree Council’s bid for the pilot and it is hoped they will also be included in future Portas events.

Councillor Chris Siddall, cabinet member for prosperity and growth, said: “The idea is to give people the opportunity to trade who would like to trade.

“These people have probably never done it before and we want to support entrepreneurial spirit.

“It has been really good and we have had really good feedback.”

Mrs Button's Chocolates realy enjoyed the day. It was a great opportunity to try a differet selling environment. It was a different vibe to the craft fairs I normally sell through and worth doing again..

Another month another gimmick
Shame they did not put the same effort into ensuring our Council tax was taken out the correct day instead of promoting publicity seeking councillors like Siddall and Butland.
Does a week go by without these idiots not being in this paper?

At the risk of upsetting brain1 can I say how good Mrs Button's Chocolates are. Really superb chocolates hand made in Kelvedon.
