Patients are disappointed health bosses are unable to save a long serving village doctor’s job.

Doctor Conor Macnamara is being forced to leave Brimpton House Surgery in Kelvedon after more than 25 years.

It follows a decision by lead doctor Abdul Raouf Alsayed who employs Dr Macnamara, to end his contract for unspecified financial reasons.

MP Priti Patel has raised the issue in parliament and patients have been lobbying the PCT to intervene in Mr Alsayed’s decision.

But Sheila Bremner, chief executive of the PCT, has now written to patients explaining the matter is outside of the PCT’s control.
