A STRIKE due to take place today by members of the Fire Brigades Union has been postponed.
Firefighters had been due to strike between 9am and 6pm - an entire day shift - in the latest in a series of strikes since June.
But Essex County Fire and Rescue said service managers and union officials had taken “a further positive step” toward resolving the current industrial dispute.
Members of the FBU claim frontline cuts and changes to working practices are putting lives at risk – claims the fire service deny.
Service managers will work with the FBU to thrash out the final detail of a dispute resolution agreement over the next few days.
