Braintree: Blandford House extension to be knocked down

A former nursery is set to be demolished as part of plans to build flats and houses on a doctor’s surgery site.

Developers want to knock down the 1960s extension to Blandford House in London Road, Braintree.

It is part of a project to convert the 18th century grade two listed building, which was formerly a doctor’s surgery, into seven flats.

Another flat, four houses and a bungalow are also planned for the site.

Planning permission was originally granted in 2003 but has now lapsed and will be resubmitted.

Public consultation on the demolition is open until September 27 and an application for the whole site is expected to submitted within months.

Will these be more luxury flats that the Town does not need
Or will they be Social housing that the Town does need?
