A car salesman is claiming £5,000 from a council after roadworks damaged his cars and lost him business.

Barry Parker, who owns High Garrett Car Sales, and nearby residents were left fuming after Essex County Council resurfaced the High Garrett road on August 22.

They claim dust clouds and chippings smothered their properties and in the case of resident Peter Bryan, left him struggling to breathe and lethargic.

Mr Parker has complained to the council and sent an invoice for £5,000 for damage caused to 12 cars on his forecourt, which were smothered in dust.
