Braintree: Marks Hall to host open day

A country estate is hosting an open day on Thursday.

Marks Hall in Coggeshall will be available to visit for free between 10.30am and 5pm.
 

Members of the Colchester Archaeological Group, along with volunteers and staff, will be on hand with information about the history of Marks Hall, and in particular the site of the lost mansion which was demolished there in 1950.
 

It is currently being excavated.
 

Visitors will be able to tour the site with archaeologists on hand to explain their findings.
 

Guided tours will be take place at 11am and 2pm.
