Audiences are encouraged to step back in time as they take their seat to witness the chaos of Fawlty Towers.

The cast and crew of the Seagull Rep company will be bringing their adaption of John Cleese’s classic TV comedy to the county this week.

After performing the first three episodes of Fawlty Towers on stage in 2009, the laugh-out-loud farce has gone from strength to strength and continues to draw in big crowds.

Show director John Hales said: "With Fawlty Towers, you’re ahead before you even start - we have some of the best written scripts in British comedy to work with."

Audiences will see Basil going into a nervous meltdown, and repeatedly offending his German guests as he reminds everyone “don’t mention the war”.

Seventies dress is actively encouraged, with a prize going out to the best dressed audience member on the night.

Fawlty Towers is being performed on Saturday at Braintree Arts Theatre, starting at 7.45pm.

The production moves on to the Civic Theatre in Fairfield Road, Chelmsford, on Wednesday and Thursday next week.
