There was more than just one man and his dog at this year’s Essex Dog Day.

Nearly 9,000 people and more than 2,000 dogs turned out for the canine festival at Crix, Hatfield Peverel, yesterday.

Crufts commentator Peter Purves introduced a variety of displays in the main show ring, including the Essex Dog Display Team and the Essex Gun Dog School.

The event raised more than £45,000 for PARC Essex, the play and resource centre at Great Notley Country Park for disabled children and young adults.
