Braintree district: 5,000 discount cards to be given out
A new scheme which will see 5,000 discount cards handed out to shoppers in Braintree.
Braintree Council will launch the Indi card, which offers discounts and freebies in independent shops, on September 7, as part of its Backing Our Town campaign.
On August 15 it trialled the scheme with 15 businesses in Braintree by handing out vouchers to 200 shoppers.
Councillor Chris Siddall, cabinet member for prosperity and growth, said: “We feel we’re onto a winner with the Indi card – we know it’s worked in other towns to boost trade and we want to do more to celebrate and support independent retailers and businesses in town that make Braintree unique.
“Over the next 12 months more and more offers will be available as businesses come on board. We’re calling on everyone to support this – the more businesses who get involved and the more people who pick up and use the card - the bigger the impact will be on reviving the fortunes of the town.”
