POLICE are warning drivers to be vigilant after a spate of thefts from cars.

Thieves took a catalytic converter worth £300 from a Mercedes Sprinter van as it was parked in Beckers Green Road, Braintree.

The theft happened between 5.15pm on August 6 and 7.20am on August 7.

Suspects targeted another white Mercedes Sprinter van between 10pm on June 28 and 5.40am on June 29 as it was parked in Stubbs Lane, Braintree.

They took a catalytic converter worth £1,000.

Thieves stole a Sony CD player worth £155 from a Ford Focus in Chalis Lane, Braintree.

They targeted the vehicle between 5pm on August 12 and 8am on August 13.

A sat nav worth £200 was stolen from a black Citroen Zara in Buckwoods Road, Braintree between 6pm on August 19 and 6.15am on August 20.

PC Chris Philpotts from Braintree Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “If people have an alarm on their vehicle they should make sure it is set before they walk away.”
