Braintree district: See how council spent £80 million
Braintree Council spent just over £80million on public services in the last financial year.
Its latest audit of accounts is available for taxpayers to inspect and see how their money is spent.
The accounts show how much money was spent on services such as housing, benefits and cemeteries.
The figures are also broken down by expenditure, which covers wages, benefits and running costs.
Spending on council tax and housing benefit made up the largest proportion of council expenditure, accounting for 64.7 per cent or about £52million - however much of this cash comes from central government.
Staff wages was the second highest overhead at £14,753,000 or 18.4 per cent.
