Social care service helping residents live more independently has been extended.
 

HomeSafe, run by Essex Cares Limited, is aimed at older people and those with learning disabilities, mental health issues and sensory impairments.
 

Services include installing aids such as grab rails or personal alarms and helping with washing, dressing, preparing meals, shopping and laundry.
 

HomeSafe was piloted in Colchester and Chelmsford and has been rolled out to the Braintree district.

This is nothing new surely? Social Services have employed Home Care to do this same work since the late 80s. Prior to that the service was called Home Helps when staff were allowed to do housework too. Housework became a no no at the same time as job titles changed.

What IS needed is more TIME for the staff to really CARE for the clients, instead of someone wielding a clipboard, to pop in and out again as is the norm these days.

I know. as we needed help with my late Mother towards the end of her life.

Yes and all of the transportation jobs are going to companies outside of the area as well so no jobs for Braintree residents there
