Braintree: Thugs shoot cat with air gun

A cat has had to be put down after it was shot.

The English blue, called Alfie, was found injured by two air gun pellets on July 20 in Fuller Street, Fairstead.

Police are now asking the public to report any sightings of people misusing air weapons.

PC Andy Crow, who is investigating the case, said: "This is a despicable act and I appeal to anyone who has any information to contact Braintree Police Station area investigation team on 101."

Reporting misuse of air weapons doesn't seem to be considered important to Braintree Police. The company where I work is surrounded by houses and someone had been shooting pigeons and the doors of our building a week ago. When a call was made to the police they were not interested. There are a lot of cats in this area so perhaps when one has been shot they might make the effort to come and have a look at the situation. There are also quite a few children about. Sorry about Alfie.
