A mother who shattered her elbow falling down just three steps described how her life changed forever in a matter of seconds.
Karen Dacosta, of St Johns Avenue, Braintree, underwent five hours of surgery and believes she will never be able to straighten her arm again after slipping on the steps outside Tesco in Market Place, Braintree.
The 52-year-old mother, who has worked as a driver for the past 35 years, will no longer be able to use a manual car and will require further surgery to replace her elbow joint.
She said: “The pain was excruciating.
“I was on the floor outside for at least 15 to 20 minutes, the paramedics gave me gas and air."""""
