Police are hunting a man who targeted a lone woman in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Between 2:30am and 3am on Sunday the unidentified man approached a 19-year-old woman near the junction of Coggeshall Road and East Street, Braintree. He pushed her to the ground but was disturbed by a passing car and fled.

The woman was said to be shaken by the incident but not injured.

The attacker is described as white, aged between 21 and 40 -years- old, of slim but muscular build, about 5ft 8ins tall.

He had spiky blond hair; and was wearing a black baseball cap with a flat peak, a grey hooded top with a full zip, a red crew neck t-shirt, black skinny fit jeans and white canvas pump style trainers.

He spoke with an Essex accent.

Anyone with information about this crime or who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area during the time in question, to is asked to call investigating officer Dc Jonathan Robinson at Chelmsford police station, on 101, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

WHAT? You blame HER for being there? That's the same as saying someone deserved to be raped because of what they were wearing! Try and keep up, "buddy" - we're not living in nineteenth century rural Africa fer crissakes!
