Braintree district: Investment promised to tackle growing pothole problems

Drivers, bikers and cyclists have had to cope with more frequent problems of damaged roads and potholes during the first half of this year.

Essex County Council (ECC) statistics show that 1,174 road defects have been reported so far this year in Braintree district, compared to 1,656 during the whole of 2011.

ECC has confirmed it will invest £11million to repair existing potholes and strengthen roads in the county.
