A date has finally been set for community groups to leave a hall due to be flattened to make way for a new retail centre.

Thousands of people who use Braintree Community Centre in Victoria Street, Braintree, will relocate to Hollywood, at 19 to 21 Bocking End, at the beginning of next year.

It comes after Braintree and Bocking Community Association (BBCA) - which runs the centre - and Braintree Council finally signed an agreement confirming the move.

The council - which offered the premises to the association in January last year - will spend £450,000 on refurbishment programme.
