Braintree: Nursery holds summer fete to raise money for new building

An oversubscribed nursery which needs to raise £100,000 to expand is holding a summer fete to support the cause.

Honywood Pre-School is currently based within Honywood Community Science School but is hoping to move into a new building as the classroom it teaches from is too small.

The popular nursery has over 60 children on its books but only has room for 16 children per session.

The Friends of Honywood Pre-School - made up of 12 parents - has helped to raise over £5,000 for the nursery so far by holding cake stalls and other events.

Clarice Storey-Smith, co-chair, hopes the summer fete, to be held on Saturday, will raise at least £1,000 for the cause.
