A transplant survivor is auctioning a signed F1 racing suit to help raise thousands for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers.
Mike Mackay, 30, of Bramble Road, Witham, is hosting an Ebay auction for the signed Jenson Button suit and already has bids totalling £770.
He has had cystic fibrosis all his life but was given just months to live in 2007 before undergoing a double lung transplant.
The fundraiser now works at a London based web design company and took on the London Marathon on Sunday in aid of the the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Mr Mackay said: “I have Cystic Fibrosis and five years I was given the gift of life and had a lung transplant.
“Today there still is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
“With the money raised from this auction, and sponsorship from my London Marathon page, every penny raised will go towards that all important, and significant, gene therapy research helping to save thousands upon thousands of lives.
“If, like me, you're a massive F1 fan then I'm sure you would love to own this item.
“Bid not just for the prospect of taking this amazing piece of F1 memorabilia home, but for helping the fight for life for the countless number of Cystic Fibrosis sufferers around the world.”
Mr Mackay hopes to raise thousands through his marathon sponsorship and auction bids.
Bidding ends on Saturday.
