Plans to build a free range egg production unit could be approved this month in spite of overwhelming public anger at the proposals.

Graham and Sarah Eva lodged an application in late November to build a unit housing 12,000 chickens in Sunnyfields Road, High Garrett.

Nina Pegler, planner at Braintree District Council, said: “It is still a live application and we hope it will go to committee before the end of the month."
