Would be ram raiders have targeted a village factory.

Burglars drove their car in to steel roller shutters at the premises on Priors Way, Coggeshall between 5.30pm on January 25 and 8am on January 26.

They did not get inside but caused over £1,000 worth of damage.

District Commander, chief inspector Nick Lee, said: “There was a spate of ram raids in the district in the 1990s.

“This is now quite a rare crime.

“If anyone witnesses a ram raid I would advise them not to approach the suspects but to call 999.”

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Braintree police station on 101.
