Comedian Jimmy Carr is the star attraction as Braintree Arts Theatre announces its spring line-up of shows.

The stand-up star will give fans a sneak peek of his brand new tour Gagging Order when he plays the warm-up show on March 1.

It will be a fantastic chance to see the 8 Out of 10 Cats presenter at the start of a mammoth touring programme, with shows already scheduled as far in the future as October 2013.

He might be best known as the host of numerous TV shows, but Jimmy insists comedy is what he does best.

With over one million copies of his stand-up DVDs sold, it is difficult to argue.

The spring and summer season at the Arts Theatre features the appearance of another famous Jimmy.

World Cup winning former England striker Jimmy Greaves comes to the venue in June for an evening of humorous anecdotes and stories.

After retiring from football, Greaves proved his endearing comic nature when he appeared alongside Ian St John as the popular eighties double act Saint and Greavsie.

Theatre manager Ash Pickard said: “We are very excited be announce this second season of shows, which has a brilliant range of genres and really does have something for everyone.

“We have had a fantastic inaugural season, which has seen new audiences enjoying the great shows we’ve had.

“We are looking to grow this venture and continue the hard work to bring top class productions to the local area, as well as welcoming new audience members to the theatre.

“The spring and summer season is even bigger and better than autumn and winter and promises to been just as much fun, if not even more.”

Tickets for Jimmy Carr’s show are priced at £15.
