A former Indian restaurant is to be turned into an emergency night shelter and cafe.
Volunteers behind the Braintree Emergency Night Shelter (BENS) hope to open the new premises in Braintree High Street by March.
The top floor will house up to four homeless people and the cafe downstairs, which will employ about four people, will be open to the public.
More volunteers and donations are needed to help the project.
Anyone who wishes to help can call Rob Sefton on 07940 830855.
