Tenants of a historic Braintree building want to find out more about its past.
Managers at the Enterprise Agency hope to set up a webpage about the history of The Corner House in Market Square.
The building has two plaques inscribed with WJC 1929 and CCC 1929, thought to be William Julien Courtauld and his wife Cecilly.
Staff at the agency believe the Corner House may have been designed by the same architect as the town hall, and believe it could become a listed building.
Andrew Halfacre, Business Advisor, at the Enterprise Agency, said: "We know it was a restaurant until the late 1960s."
