The regular trains may be long gone, but a group of volunteers are working hard to restore parts of a former Essex railway line to its mid-twentieth century glory.
The Flitch Way Country Park stretches for 15 miles along what used to be the Braintree to Bishop’s Stortford railway.
Passenger services ended in 1952 and the last goods train passed along the line in 1971 before the tracks were dismantled the next year.
