Braintree: Trekkers to scale heights of Kilimanjaro Braintree: Trekkers to scale heights of Kilimanjaro

Three trekkers will scale the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for an array of charities.

David Huxter, of Hazel Grove, Braintree, is taking part in the almost 6,000 metre climb in Tanzania in aid of the Braintree Youth Project Charity and Wateraid.

His friends Mark and Claire Heasman, of Cressing, will be joining him on the charity climb to raise funds for adventure days out for disadvantaged children.

The trio, who set off last week, all have climbing experience but this is their toughest challenge yet.

Mr Huxter said: “It is a pretty daunting challenge, but I am very excited to have the chance to tackle Kilimanjaro, it is a bit higher than the peaks I’m used to, but hopefully the achievement of reaching the summit will make it all worthwhile.”
