A severely disabled young girl was treated to a special reading from a celebrated children’s author.
Braintree girl Frances Upson, nine, was among the children on the Phoenix Children’s Unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, to receive a visit from Claire Freedman.
The author of Aliens Love Underpants, winner of the Richard and Judy Children’s Book Club in 2007, read from her book and gave the young patients she met alien-themed goodie bags, posters and stickers to help cheer them up during their stay.
