Police have named the 38-year-old victim of a serious crash on the A12.
Rachel Aylott, 38, of Clacton, who was in the rear passenger seat of a car which collided with a lorry, was pronounced dead at the scene.
All four of the other passengers in the car who are from the Clacton area were taken to hospital.
The 33-year-old driver of the Toyata Rav 4 was airlifted to Royal London Hospital with serious injuries.
A 21-year-old passenger was also airlifted to Queens Hospital with serious injuries.
A 21-year-old passenger was taken to Colchester Hospital with serious injuries along with a the fifth passenger who had minor injuries.
The collision happened at about 10am yesterday with a red and white curtain-sided lorry on a northbound carriageway slip road near Witham.
The driver of the lorry was not injured.
