A controversial fence dividing a community will be the topic of discussion at a public meeting.

Braintree Council fenced off open space between Lie Field Close and Twelve Acres in Braintree after a majority of residents called for the barrier to stop anti-social behaviour.

But just a month after it was put up in September, the council received a petition of 117 signatures, objecting to the closure of the pedestrian access from Lie Field Close.

Residents have been invited to a meeting at Greenfields House, Charter Way, Braintree on Tuesday, December 21, to decide if it should remain.

The meeting starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8.30pm. Anyone wishing to attend should confirm their attendance by contacting Karen Brown at braintree.east@googlemail.com.

Anyone unable to attend who would like pass on their ideas or views can also email Karen Brown or telephone Braintree Council’s community safety and development team on 01376 552525.
