Residents plan to fight an appeal for 105 homes.
A hybrid application for social housing along with outline planning permission for 73 private homes was recently refused.
The development is for what is known locally as the Sunday market site in Maldon Road, Witham.
The 32 social dwellings would need access from Carraways and the private dwellings would be accessed from Constance Close, Witham.
At least 108 letters of objection were submitted to Braintree Council and 92 people signed a petition against the development.
Karen Skinner, who lives in Carraways, said: “We still feel there are strong planning issues for why it should be declined."
