Talent contest heats have so far produced four acts with definite places in the final.
Braintree’s Got Talent, organised by Braintree and Bocking Rotary Club, has been launched to discover and celebrate talented groups and individuals in the district.
A group called Lochrock, with ten-year-old Lochlan Green on drums, impressed the rotary club judges.
The pupil at Great Bradfords Junior School in Braintree plays alongside two adult guitarists, Kenny Petrie and Steve Lovett.
Lochlan’s father Richard said his son was “absolutely delighted” to be selected to play in the final.
“And it is also really great that something is happening that puts a positive face on Braintree," he added.
