Fancy a sauna?

Residents should know within months what extra facilities will be built at Witham’s new leisure centre.

Braintree Council is hoping to have replaced Bramston Sports Centre by the end of next year and costs are being produced for additional facilities.

On Monday night the council’s cabinet discussed a report which included feedback from a public consultation last year.

Cabinet members agreed the standard option, including a six-lane pool, 50 spectator seats, a learner pool, fitness suite, two studios, two squash courts and a cafe area.

Other facilities which are being considered include a free weights area, a sauna and steam room, treatments rooms and a creche.

Costs for the extra facilities will be put before councillors on March 29.

So therefore it will have less facilities than we currently have eg 2 instead of 3 pools and no creche possibly which it currently has. Value for money I think not even though the population in Witham is increasing we get less facilities for more council tax.As usual Witham plays second fiddle to Braintree.Where will the extra swimming lessons be moved to which are already oversubscribed currently with 3 pools! As usual they ask for consultation from the public and ignore what they say.Who cares about a sauna or steam room when we could have an extra pool and how will we use these nice new facilities as parents if there are no creche facilites!
