Forest Road pond looking good again

Wildlife is back at a community pond.

Residents looked for someone to blame last year as the pond in Forest Road, Witham, was allowed to dry out.

The calls for action started in August as the then dried out pond looked in a sorry state and residents highlighted that 150 fish had died when the pond previously dried out in 2005.

The water level has been naturally restored and a plan is in the pipeline for residents to work alongside Greenfields Community Housing to maintain the pond.

Resident Claudia Hunt sent this picture into the Witham Times at the weekend.

She said: “Thought this picture would be of interest to people in the community who are concerned about the pond. There are swans who have been at the pond for the past week. What a pretty site!”
