POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was harrassed by a passenger on a train.
The 20-year-old Colchester woman was on the train from Braintree to Liverpool Street when a man claiming to be a cage fighter nicknamed The Dog, grabbed her neck and tried to kiss her as the train left Freeport station.
She pulled away and tried to call her boyfriend and police on her mobile phone, but the battery died.
Det Con Alan Reed, of British Transport Police, said: "She sought refuge in the toilet. He tried to walk in and was in the process of unbuttoning his jeans.
"She forced herself past him and out of the door."
The woman sat next to a passenger who boarded the train at either Witham or Chelmsford, at which point the suspect walked up and down the train, being abusive and behaving drunkenly.
He then told her: "I will give you £120 to come back to Braintree with me" and tried to kiss her hand.
The woman and the passenger sitting next to her both left the train at Liverpool Street, followed by the suspect.
Police could not find anyone fitting the suspect's description at the station.
Mr Reed said the woman's ordeal took place on the journey between Freeport and Chelmsford on September 3 and there must have been other people on the train who saw the incident.
Both the victim and the harasser got on the 5.44pm train at Braintree railway station, but he only started talking to her at Freeport.
The suspect is described as white, aged 39 to 40, of stocky build and 5ft 8ins tall.
He had light brown hair which was brushed back, wore blue jeans and new Adidas trainers, and had two faint scars above both eyes and a scar on his cheek.
He was carrying a large, army style blue and green rucksack.
The suspect also made a racial comment towards a group of black passengers sitting at Freeport railway station.
