A TEACHER was left feeling the burn, but all for a good cause, after a charity walk.
Julie Spencer-Smith, deputy headteacher at Terling Primary School, did 100 laps of the school field, only stopping for lunch.
"I was very tired. I ached in places I didn't know exist," she said.
Pupils also did sponsored walk around the field, which is about 220 metres all the way round, and most completed 15 to 25 laps.
Together, they raised over £500 towards the £2,500 they need to be part of the Kenya Schools Partnership Project.
The school and Terling and Fairstead parish have been invited by the Diocese of Chelmsford to take part in the scheme, which involves developing lifelong educational and church links with a partner school in Kenya.
Terling has been partnered with Kianguenyi Primary School, north of Nairobi, which has 627 pupils aged from four to 18.
Mrs Spencer-Smith, who will be visiting Kenya in February with parish council chairman Sarah MacNamara, said both schools will learn from each other and share their experiences.
