A belated birthday celebration led to an Essex model being handpicked to feature in a Playboy calendar.

Victoria Moore, who grew up in Witham's Humber Road estate, turned 21 in February and jetted off to Las Vegas in April to celebrate the milestone.

While in Vegas she was in the Playboy Club with friends when she was chosen by a Playboy executive to take part in a competition to star in the 2010 Playboy calendar.

She said she "couldn't believe it" when she won the competition, and with it £1,000 cash and the title of Miss April in the calendar.

As well as having her picture taken, while on holiday, for the calendar she is set to be the face of Imperial Vodka in the US and could be picked by Playboy owner Hugh Heffner to feature on the front cover and centrefold of the famous magazine.

She is also going out to stay at the legendary lothario's Playboy mansion next month.

"It was my first time in Las Vegas. I got there on the Wednesday and was in the club on the Sunday night," said Miss Moore.

"I was going home on the Wednesday so after I was spotted I had a photo shoot the day before I left. I always thought I was unlucky because I never seem to win anything"

Miss Moore, a trained make up artist, studied beauty therapy at Colchester Institute from 2004 to 2006.

While networking in London for her career as a her make up artist she was spotted by someone from an agency and asked if she would consider modelling.

She is now a full time model in the UK and has worked mainly commercially, for example in catalogues, but has done work for lads magazines.

She is now waiting on a Visa so she can move to America to further her modelling career.

"I was really shocked by it all and it took time to settle in," said the former pupil at John Bramston School, Witham.

"Americans seem to really like the English, they just love the accent."
