A council is entering a new era following the appointment of a new chief executive.
Uttlesford Council members have backed the appointment of John Mitchell following his selection from a shortlist of three.
The father-of-two has been running Uttlesford Council since March, following the departure of Alasdair Bovaird.
Council leader Jim Ketteridge, said: “The council is now entering a new era following the trauma of the financial problems we have faced over the past year.
“We have confidence that Mr Mitchell will keep the council on track with its recovery plans and oversee the rebuilding of financial stability for the longer term.”
Mr Mitchell, 52, who lives in Maldon, has worked in local government for 30 years and been with Uttlesford Council for seven years, joining as head of planning and progressing to executive manager and director of development.
