Residents and councillors gave a health trust "a very good idea of what we think of their current level of service."
Phil Barlow, Witham town councillor, said a consultation meeting held by the Mid-Essex Primary Care Trust (PCT) on Monday allowed Witham residents and town councillors to "continue to berate the PCT."
A meeting, which was held at the town's public hall, was organised by the PCT to gather views on round the clock health services.
It was one of three meetings held in the past week for people connected with Witham to have their say.
The trust is proposing a 24/7 health facility in north Chelmsford and also considering providing two linked out of hours services in Braintree and Maldon.
Mr Barlow said: "The PCT was left in no doubt about our views as what we see as their inability to provide improved health services for Witham.”
At the meeting it was argued that north Chelmsford is being considered as the preferred location for a new 24/7 health centre because of population growth but Mr Barlow said Witham does not have enough facilities now and it would "add insult to injury if we have to go to Springfield for services which is down the road from Broomfield."
About 30 people were at the meeting at which the PCT said a review of health service provision in Witham has been brought forward.
Mr Barlow said it is not a review that is being called for but action.
"They understood very well that we feel hard done by, ignored and bypassed," Mr Barlow said.
